Construction Inspectors perform all phases of field assignments, interpret specifications and drawings, and convey intent to contractors and owners. They handle field inspection, testing, sampling, equipment maintenance, and generate field reports using digital tools. Responsibilities also include daily reporting, vehicle upkeep, coordination on design changes, communication with stakeholders, quantity recording for payment reviews, and adherence to safety and DLZ core values.
Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, geology, or a related field is preferred. Experience with inspections on PennDOT, ODOT, Turnpike, municipal or sewer authority projects is required. Preferred certifications include ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I, NICET Level II or higher in Highway Construction Inspection, NECEPT Bituminous Field Technician, NECEPT Concrete Field Testing Technician, EIT, and NASSCO. Additional qualifications: valid driver’s license, ability to travel moderately, physical ability to climb and stand for long periods, and compliance with DLZ’s Health and Safety Plan.
