Reporting to the Yunex Country QEHS Manager, the Safety Coordinator assists NSW project managers, site supervisors, and field staff by implementing the Safety Management System, handling safety documentation, field inspections, incident investigations, toolbox talks, inductions, and ensuring compliance with NSW WHS legislation and client requirements such as TfNSW standards.
- Support day‑to‑day WHS activities on ITS and construction sites.
- Conduct site inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments.
- Assist with incident reporting, investigations and corrective actions.
- Deliver inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Maintain safety documentation, SWMS, permits and registers.
- Support contractor management and compliance verification.
- Promote a proactive safety culture aligned with company values.
- Ensure adherence to WHS Act, regulations, codes of practice and project‑specific safety requirements.
- Provide practical safety advice to project teams.

The ideal candidate is a motivated safety professional who enjoys field work and collaboration, holds at least a Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety, has experience in construction, civil or ITS projects, understands NSW WHS legislation, can build rapport with teams, and possesses strong communication, documentation, multitasking abilities, a full driver’s licence, and willingness to travel to multiple sites. Desirable experience includes work on TfNSW, telecommunications or road projects and certifications like First Aid, White Card, and knowledge of ISO 45001/14001/9001.
- Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (minimum).
- Experience in construction, civil or ITS projects.
- Strong understanding of NSW WHS legislation.
- Ability to build rapport with field teams and influence safe behaviours.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to multitask and travel to multiple sites with a full driver’s licence.
- Desirable: experience on TfNSW, ITS, civil construction, telecommunications or road infrastructure projects.
- Desirable: First Aid, White Card certifications and traffic control knowledge.
- Desirable: knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 quality systems.
