  • Provide technical support to diagnose, repair, and overhaul a variety of communication equipment and ancillaries.
  • Provide support to NIWC for Foreign Military Sales (FMS) CONUS/OCONUS.
  • We expect the employee to keep managers and supervisors apprised of their progress, maintain the ability to work well with others, adhere to contract requirements, and comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Shipboard Antenna systems (whips, fans, SATCOM, MCCP, etc.)
  • Responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of US Navy or Coast Guard communications and patching equipment.
  • Provide expertise in repair, alignment, and overhaul of all variants of AN/URT-23 (C, D, & E).
  • Provide expertise in the repair, alignment, and overhaul of Navy communications equipment.

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Must be able to safely lift 40lbs.
  • Capable of traveling to CONUS / OCONUS locations to support ISEA requirements.
  • Experience with standard Navy patching systems SAS/BAS and Tactical Variant Switch (TVS).
  • Background in shipboard communication, knowledge/expertise with one or more systems listed:
  • Prior military training: A-school, C-school.
  • AN/USQ-155 Tactical Variant Switch (TVS).
  • Be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • AN/URT-23C, D, E.
  • We expect this employee to be familiar with protocols and procedures relative to performing work at NIWC formally SPAWARSYSCEN or other similar commands, for all facets related to facility requirements such as access control, IT usage, and general housekeeping.
  • HF Couplers (AN/SRA-56/7/8, AN/URA-38, RF-2601, CU-2475, etc.)
  • Must have experience with shipboard communication center work.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in Navy or Coast Guard communications systems.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and pre-hire drug test.
  • Must be able to respond to emerging requirements, which may involve travel and/or extended work hours.
  • Must be willing to travel CONUS/OCONUS and must be willing to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to research and analyze data.
  • Must be able to carry tools and test equipment.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize own work as well as that of assigned staff, if any.
  • Technical training for HF/UHF OJT or other.
  • Comfortable working around exposures to hazards in shipyard-type environments.
  • Must have SECRET Security Clearance.
  • SA-2112 BAS & SAS.
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to tolerate heat/cold.
  • Ability to work in low-lit areas for long periods of time.
  • We expect this employee to be familiar with Navy communications, switching, and legacy HF/UHF systems and ancillaries.
  • Must be familiar with test instruments and their application to communications systems.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.
  • UHF Couplers (OA-9123, 9277, 9277A).
  • AN/USC-42 (MINI-DAMA).
  • Must be able to move around freely onboard ships and shore sites.
  • AN/WSC-3 (all variants).
  • AN/URC-141 (HFSAR).
  • AN/URC-109 LHD Communications System.
  • Strong customer service skills to interface directly with prime customers and other industry partners.
  • Must be able to work outdoors, in labs, and onboard ships worldwide.

  • We expect this employee to have experience in and be familiar with work being performed in or around industrial environments such as shipyards, and Naval/Coast Guard bases and piers. As well as various subcontractor Government sites.
