The OHE Lineman B assists the Journeyman Lineman and Foreman while in training, performing construction and maintenance of poles, power lines, auxiliary facilities, and equipment for electricity transmission and distribution. The role sets a positive safety example for newer apprentices, works closely with the Lineman team, and collaborates with other department personnel to ensure reliable electrical service.
- Construct, maintain, and inspect transmission and distribution power lines.
- Operate and maintain reliable electrical services, ensuring quality and timeliness.
- Connect, disconnect, install, remove, move, and transfer electrical devices such as transformers, regulators, switches, and capacitor banks at customer facilities.
- Route or re‑route power lines over, under, or around existing lines and structures.
- Inspect and remove damaged power lines.
- Assist with pole handling, hole digging, and pole setting or replacement.
- Perform line switching or sectionalizing as directed.
- Provide backup for Class A Apprentice Lineman and support duty completion.
- Submit all Apprentice Program documentation on time.
- Troubleshoot electrical problems on customer equipment when needed.
- Operate bucket truck to job sites and maintain truck inventory.
- Investigate consumer complaints and repair energized distribution lines.

This field‑based role demands frequent bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in extreme weather conditions. Employees must have clear vision at distance and near, precise hand‑eye coordination, and the ability to distinguish colors to safely perform essential functions.
- Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum: 2 years of lineman experience.
- Minimum: Valid Class A CDL.
- Preferred: 3 + years of lineman experience.
- Preferred: OSHA 10 certification.
