Daily duties include operating a company‑owned commercial vehicle, safely loading and unloading products such as shingles, drywall, lumber, and millwork, and ensuring job‑site safety conditions. The driver also tracks product movement in and out of the yard and supports yard staff with stocking and organization.
- Deliver products to job sites using the most efficient route while obeying traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Unload or assist unloading products at job sites using crane, conveyor, piggybacks, or by hand.
- Meet delivery schedules while providing friendly, professional customer service.
- Secure returning loads on the vehicle before leaving the job site.
- Complete required paperwork for deliveries, returns, and transfers to ensure accurate inventory tracking.
- Assist in loading and securing residential and commercial building products; verify materials and quantities with yard personnel.
- Maintain cleanliness and appearance of delivery vehicles inside and out.
- Perform routine safety checks on vehicles per company policies.
- Assist in yard and warehouse with stocking, loading, and organizing building and lumber materials.
- Help customers in the yard with loading and product questions when not driving.

R.P. Lumber is hiring a Driver CDL for its Princeton, IL location. The position reports directly to the General Manager.
The Driver CDL maintains a culture of safety while delivering lumber and building materials to customers promptly and courteously. The role requires strong product knowledge, adherence to company processes, accurate loading and unloading, and precise paperwork handling.
Candidates must hold a valid Class A or B CDL, preferably with air‑brake and manual transmission endorsements, and possess a DOT medical certification. An acceptable driving record for the past 60 months is required, and the driver must keep all certifications current and perform daily equipment inspections.
Applicants need at least a high school diploma or equivalent experience, be 21 years or older, and demonstrate strong communication and attention to detail. The job involves frequent lifting of 50‑100 lb, bending, climbing and working in varied weather conditions, with a flexible schedule that may include weekends and holidays.

- Able to lift, move, and handle 50‑100 pounds and perform bending, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
