The Manager, Commercial Accounting will join the Corporate Finance team in Calgary, reporting to the Senior Manager of Operations Accounting. This role ensures accurate financial information and analysis for a portfolio of commercial and hotel properties nationwide, while directly overseeing the commercial property accounting team and collaborating closely with Operations to support business growth.
Key responsibilities include leading and developing the accounting team, acting as the primary liaison for Operations, and continuously improving accounting processes. The manager will oversee portfolio accounting, coordinate budgeting and revenue activities, manage joint‑venture reporting for external audits and board meetings, and handle lease administration and tenant cost recovery. Additionally, the role is responsible for implementing internal controls and managing both internal and external audit engagements.
The ideal candidate holds an undergraduate degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting or a related field, and is working toward or possesses a CPA designation. Required experience includes prior management within commercial real‑estate or property‑management settings, strong proficiency in MS Office, and preferably experience with Yardi or similar systems. The candidate must demonstrate customer‑service excellence, strategic thinking, inclusive leadership, solid project‑management abilities, analytical problem‑solving skills, and superior communication.
