The Mechanical Handling Engineer will join the Derby or Warrington team to support nuclear sector activities. The role focuses on designing and developing bespoke mechanical handling systems for the retrieval, handling and management of radioactive waste where human access is not possible. You will work closely with mechanical, systems, safety and multidisciplinary engineering teams on long‑term, nationally significant nuclear programmes. The position requires a BPSS clearance and 5–10 years of experience.
- Employ CIMAGE or similar nuclear design/data management tools
- Hold a BSc or MSc in Engineering, or equivalent military experience
- Understand regulated environments (CDM, PUWER, LOLER) and safety‑critical design processes
- Benefit from direct nuclear experience or transferable experience from defence, oil & gas, heavy plant or offshore engineering
