Work with Project Engineer/Manager to ensure that project schedule will be met, and complete documents provided for each deliverable.
Work with owner and construction management team to validate construction cost and provide value-engineering options as necessary.
Perform pipe stress analysis utilizing software such as CAESAR II, NozzlePro, etc.
Establish and document the mechanical systems basis of design and in doing so provide clarification, qualifications and design assumptions regarding relevant design issues.
Interpret scopes-of-work and translate them into executable project plans.
Perform detailed reviews of piping isometrics, piping plans, pipe specifications, P&IDs, and other design documents.
Oversee problem solving efforts for field oversights and addressing RFI’s.
Mentor other mechanical engineers and designers.Construction Support:
Ensure understanding and compliance with owner’s requirements of the facility or corporate standards related to mechanical design.
Manage project mechanical engineering and design team and oversee all aspects of the mechanical scope related primarily to equipment and piping.
Oversee piping group activities related to mechanical equipment, piping and 3D modeling to support mechanical deliverables.
Perform and document engineering calculations related to mechanical engineering for the purpose of selecting code compliant systems and equipment.
Confirm and review applicable codes and standards such as, but not limited to, the IBC, ASME, API, PIP and NFPA.
Perform sizing and selection of equipment and systems.
Develop scopes of work based on RFPs and pre-bid meetings with clients.
Work with the project team to design a cohesive, technically acceptable, and optimized piping system.
Perform field inspections and review of reports.
Contribute to the preparation of construction documents including drawings, specifications, calculations, and equipment datasheets.
Apply your knowledge in Food & Personal Care, Bioprocessing, Oil & Gas, Chemical, Power, Manufacturing and Industrial and shipbuilding facilities/systems (Conceptual Design).
