The Consulting Associate will supervise contractors, conduct routine monitoring, and perform field work such as walk‑overs, soil and groundwater sampling, and logging soils. They will also manage data analysis, reporting, and produce environmental desk studies, site investigation and verification reports. Additionally, the associate will assist in fee proposal preparation and receive training to manage small‑to‑medium projects, including financial management.
ERM is looking for a motivated, hands‑on Contaminated Land & Remediation Consulting Associate to join the Liability Portfolio Management and Remediation (LPMR) team in the UK. Working under program managers and partners, the candidate will work on site investigation and remediation projects across the region, taking on increasing task and project management duties. The role is field‑focused, requiring regular travel to client sites.
Ideal candidates enjoy working outdoors and have experience supporting investigations, risk assessments, or environmental assessments, preferably with field‑work supervision in an environmental or water consultancy. Experience on active industrial sites with strong safety cultures or in remote locations is valued. A degree in environmental sciences, hydrogeology, geology, geochemistry or chemistry is preferred, though relevant work experience may be considered.
Required personal attributes include strong written and verbal communication, problem‑solving ability, initiative, and the capacity to organise and prioritise workloads to meet timescales. Candidates must hold a full UK driving licence and may be asked to complete an online assessment as part of the recruitment process.
