The consultant will represent Caterpillar in design for select key projects, participating in the design phase, offering technical input and supporting sales activities in coordination with the field and dealer network. They will develop professional networks both internally and externally, act as a subject‑matter expert on energy supply markets, demand management, and asset management, and stay current through professional society meetings and educational courses. Additionally, they will develop commercial procurement awareness to make strategic sourcing recommendations that meet cost, quality, and velocity goals.
Job Summary: The Electric Power Division seeks a Senior Energy Sales Consultant to apply technical knowledge to energy supply network initiatives, projects, and operations. This role serves as a technical leader in energy management and engineering, driving collaboration among Caterpillar engineers, business resources, and customers. Close work with large consulting engineers and EPC companies, from entry‑level engineers to senior leadership, is essential.
The role requires a customer‑focused mindset that champions external decision‑making tied to client business needs, providing vision, strategy, and leadership that exceed expectations. It also demands extensive product knowledge across switchgear, power generation, engines, battery storage, PV, and microgrids, along with the ability to advise on implementation and differentiate offerings. Strong communication, relationship management, and technical excellence are essential, including mentoring and coaching others.
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. The position is based in Dallas, TX; Alpharetta, GA; Lafayette, IN; or Mossville, IL, with up to 70 % domestic travel and relocation assistance available. A five‑day‑a‑week office schedule is required, and visa sponsorship is not offered.
