Recycle Center Forklift Operator

Description

• Ensure a clean and organized work environment by regularly maintaining the recycle center and surrounding areas.
• Productivity/Initiative: Participates in departmental process improvement. Leads small initiatives. Effective, high-volume producer. Consistently meets or exceeds work deadlines. Seeks new assignments. Self-starter who can work without supervision.
• Report mechanical issues with forklifts, conveyors, or grinders to your supervisor immediately.
• Transport rejected or waste material to and from the Recycle Center.
• Prioritize the safe operation of the forklift, ensuring the well-being of yourself and fellow team members.
• Load pallets, door skins and other materials onto trailers in a safe manner.
• Sort and process rejected materials in accordance with Recycle Center guidelines.
• Safety: Supports and adheres to safety and quality standards and procedures (JHA's/SOP's). Works towards safety improvements.
• Monitor staging areas and bin levels to help ensure continuous operation of work centers.
• Empty and return bins throughout the day to keep up with production demands.

Requirements

• Previous telehandler experience preferred but not required.
• Reliable and consistent daily attendance.
• Knowledge of and experience with general production safety requirements, procedures, and protection equipment.
• Self-starter and works well independently.
• Ability to learn and operate various forklifts as needed (counterbalance, telehandler, etc.).
• Ability to work well with employees with varying skill sets.
• Previous sit-down counterbalance forklift experience (propane and electric).
• Attendance: Reliable and shows up to work on time every day. Sets the example for the team. Flexible to work hours needed.
• Capable of bending, stooping, kneeling, walking, and lifting 50+ lbs.
• Work Quality: Exceeds quality standards while completing work in a thorough and accurate manner. Able to take on more complex projects. Sets an example for others. Expert knowledge in work area to drive quality outcomes.
• Trustworthy and consistently completes task deadlines.
• Communication: Frequent communication and support with Supervisor. Able to execute a clear and specific work plan. Can express ideas and process improvements verbally and with documentation.
• Teamwork/Customer Service: Maintains effective relationships with team and other departments. Ability and willingness to stop process to take corrective action when required. Works to achieve department's goals within the team.
