The role involves preparing exhibits and design drawings, coordinating with agency staff and internal support teams on designs, analysis, and issues, and preparing entitlement documents for tentative maps, vacations, zone changes, and other entitlements. It also includes calculating quantities using Microsoft Excel, drafting justification letters in Word, and assisting with construction drawings such as grading plans, profiles, details, and utility plans using AutoCAD Civil3D.
Westwood Professional Services, Inc has a highly experienced and dynamic team dedicated to providing high‑level professional services. A Graduate Engineer will support a licensed Civil Engineer while learning the company’s standard practices and local agency codes, and will spend a significant amount of time becoming proficient in AutoCAD Civil3D. In pursuit of a Professional Engineering license, the applicant must be organized, self‑motivated, and able to collaboratively solve complex issues on time and within budget.
Required skills include strong communication and active listening, proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD Civil3D, competent technical abilities, and a proactive approach to design solutions. The candidate should be detail‑oriented, flexible enough to consider big‑picture concepts, able to collaborate and compromise with others, and able to follow firm policies and procedures while working both independently and as part of a team.
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or be able to obtain one within 6‑12 months) and an Engineer‑in‑Training certificate (or be able to obtain one within 6‑12 months). Basic knowledge of AutoCAD Civil3D software is also required.
