Training is delivered virtually through QA, combining online tutorials, project work, labs and peer learning. You will build specialist knowledge in cloud operations, DevOps practices and platform engineering while working alongside technical leads, product owners and engineering partners within Nuclear IT Services.
The role is remote‑first, ideally based in the South West, with occasional travel to EDF offices in Gloucester and Heysham. Throughout the scheme you will engage with Nuclear IT Services teams across the UK, building relationships with mentors and platform specialists who will guide your progression.
Security Check SC clearance is required, which generally requires five years of UK residence in the last ten years. Applications are expected to be high, so apply promptly; the virtual assessment centre is scheduled for 31 March 2026.
Success is personal at EDF. The DevOps Engineer Apprenticeship offers a fully funded Level 4 qualification while you help Britain achieve net zero. With a starting salary of £25,139, you’ll rotate between AWS or Azure cloud platform teams and the DevOps Platform team, gaining hands‑on experience in large‑scale cloud operations.
EDF is committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce, offering a market‑leading pension scheme and a range of flexible benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers and experience days. The company supports applicants requiring adjustments and guarantees an interview for candidates meeting the minimum criteria under the Disability Confident scheme.
