The AV System Designer is responsible for designing, engineering, and supporting commercial audiovisual systems across diverse client environments. The role involves collaborating with engineering, CAD, programming, staging, and field teams, overseeing projects from concept through commissioning, and ensuring technical accuracy, quality, and client satisfaction.
Key responsibilities include designing audio, video, and control systems that meet client needs and standards, developing system architectures using platforms such as Biamp, Q‑SYS, Crestron, Extron, and DVLED, and producing bills of materials, statements of work, and technical sketches. The role also involves conducting design reviews, creating and coordinating documentation with CAD, providing remote technical support during installations, supporting field engineers during commissioning, and delivering Level 2 helpdesk support.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, at least three years of experience designing and engineering commercial AV systems, and three years of experience installing, troubleshooting, and commissioning AV equipment. Candidates must have strong communication skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and technical experience with Crestron, Biamp, Q‑SYS, Extron, and AutoCAD. Preferred qualifications include CTS‑D or CTS‑I certification and other manufacturer certifications.
The position requires the ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lb, work at heights, and operate in confined or noisy environments. Travel up to 75 % of the time for on‑site installations, client meetings, and support is expected, along with the ability to manage multiple projects independently and adapt to changing site conditions.
