Job Summary: The Data Technician registers raw laser‑scan data into usable point clouds for modeling staff and clients, supporting the Mapping and Modeling team through active engagement with field crews and customers during all post‑processing stages.
Job Goals: Receive 3D laser‑scanning raw data from field capture, register and process it into robust, dimensionally precise data sets, and drive technical development by problem‑solving and applying best practices in a rapidly evolving industry.
- Use point cloud software to accurately register raw scan data into usable point clouds.
- Perform QA/QC on point cloud registrations to ensure accuracy and precision.
- Align point clouds to specific coordinates or existing client models.
- Actively engage with project managers and clients throughout all post‑processing stages.
- Ensure on‑time completion, quality, and client satisfaction for projects.
- Keep company ERP systems accurately updated with project information and status.
- Research industry trends and competition to stay educated within the industry.
- Maintain an up‑to‑date electronic schedule/calendar.

Qualifications: Candidates must hold a High School Diploma, be able to read blueprints and architectural drawings, and possess strong computer literacy. They should demonstrate systematic, detail‑oriented work habits, a passion for solving puzzles, solid technical aptitude, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively while managing time effectively and communicating clearly.
Preferred Requirements: An associate or bachelor’s degree, advanced knowledge of Autodesk and Leica products, experience with laser scanning or scan‑data processing, and an understanding of manufacturing processes and construction methods are desirable.
