Key responsibilities include managing New Source Review (NSR), non‑attainment NSR, Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD), and Title V permitting, conducting EPA‑recommended air dispersion modeling (e.g., AERMOD), performing emission calculations and inventory development, and carrying out Best Available Control Technology (BACT) assessments and regulatory applicability analyses across federal, state, and local regulations.
Additional duties involve administrating and managing project teams of consultants, ensuring quality control of personal and project work, communicating effectively with external and internal customers, building and maintaining professional client relationships, and promoting Spirit Environmental to external stakeholders.
The Air Quality Project Manager role is based in Houston, TX, and operates on a hybrid model, offering the flexibility of remote work while maintaining a collaborative office culture. The position supports our growing air quality team and prefers candidates with experience in air quality permitting and compliance for chemicals and refining sectors.
Successful candidates will demonstrate technical excellence, strong problem‑solving abilities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. They must be able to mentor and train team members, manage time efficiently, and uphold professionalism to establish long‑term client relationships. Proficiency with the MS Office suite, SharePoint, time/expense tracking tools, and air‑quality software such as AERMOD, SCREEN3, and TRI‑ME is essential.
Requirements include a B.S. or higher in engineering or a related scientific discipline from an accredited institution, and five to seven years of air quality consulting experience. Project management experience with a focus on timelines, budgets, and successful delivery is highly preferred, along with a high level of professional ethics, independence, attention to detail, and adherence to safety regulations.
