Lead Healthcare Plumbing Engineer

Description

• Represent the firm through published articles, public speaking engagements and attendance at industry and community events, meetings, and conferences.
• Act as a QC reviewer on Plumbing Engineering projects.
• Provide oversight for Plumbing Engineering staff education and certification process & balance firm, studio and staff needs.
• Assist with the development of the annual business plan and budget for the business center and working with the leadership team to achieve key performance indicators.
• Hold project team members accountable for technical excellence, delivery standards, and best practices.
• Apply strong engineering skills, experience and knowledge to the design and oversight of the design for building projects.
• Lead a team consisting of HVAC and Plumbing project managers, designers, and CAD/Revit production staff.
• Assist the marketing department with the development of mechanical engineering marketing materials and content.
• Maintain awareness of operational, technical, or regulatory changes within Plumbing Engineering, disseminate such knowledge to staff and firm, and integrate into existing processes and standards.
• Manage and plan the production resources and workflow to produce the design documentation, drawings, and calculations required for engineering projects.
• Apply buildings engineering and project management knowledge while leading crossfunctional resources to meet project requirements within established timeframes and budgets.
• Liaise closely with regional stakeholders (regional project leadership), and in some instances external clients; and local RNet (Pune) team members.
• Meet technical, contractual, schedule, budgetary and client service objectives for projects.
• Work with PM's and SMEs on key projects to develop and deliver client drawings, specifications, presentations, reports, and other deliverables.
• Provide regular work status updates, including risks or concerns to Discipline Lead/Project Manager/Project Lead.
• Provide technical expertise in the area of all Plumbing systems as a part of a multidisciplinary team delivering conceptual design, outline design, detailed design and construction support for projects across Stantec.
• Responsible for managing the financial performance, quality control processes, and project delivery for Mechanical Engineering projects.
• Develop strategic and tactical business development and marketing plans for the healthcare plumbing engineering practice and align with Business Center and regional Buildings group goals and strategies and brand position priorities
• In conjunction with other stakeholders, identify and forecast staff needs and assignments based on current and projected workload and SME requirements.
• Oversee Plumbing Engineering Design delivery process and best practices and coordinate with other disciplines.
• Maintain and update Plumbing Engineering specifications, technical documentation, and standards in collaboration with other Sr. Plumbing technical resources in Stantec.
• Successfully manage projects of significant scope, complexity, and revenue budget.
• Train new and less experienced mechanical engineers and designers.
• Interface regularly with additional mechanical, electrical engineering and architectural leaders to thrive and contribute for integrated design practice

Requirements

• Ability to produce and review design calculations, specifications of Plumbing related to Building Mechanical projects.
• Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
• Successful history of collaboration with contractors in various construction delivery processes such as Design assist, DesignBuild, and IPD.
• Learning/Maintaining and Expanding Technical and Managerial Skills: Maintain current knowledge of technologies and trends impacting Stantec's core service offerings and markets and continually strengthens skills.

• Ability to manage clients, projects, fee, scope, and teams to achieve budget, schedule and deliverable objectives while meeting key stakeholder critical success factors.
• Ability to integrate design elements with other disciplines to deliver a coordinated design.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare, higher education, military and/or life science communities including architects, engineers, contractors, and facilities, both stakeholders and key decisionmakers.
• Deep knowledge of healthcare plumbing and medical gas systems.
• The person must necessarily have the following skills: Communication skills good command of written and spoken English (the position will require a high level of interaction Stantec engineers, technical staff, project leadership (Project Managers, Project Technical Leaders) in other global offices, and on occasion end client representatives.

• Travelling offshore (secondments) to other Stantec global offices: for durations ranging from 3 to 6 months or as required.

• LEED AP Credential required.
• Proficient in use of plumbing design software.
• Knowledge of other disciplines like Civil, Structural and Electrical.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Dedication to apply sustainable design principles within projects while maintaining the process driven requirements of healthcare facilities.
• Ability to identify and manage potential unanticipated scope.
• Bachelors Degree or Masters (M.E./M. Tech) in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed institute
• Should have minimum experience of 15+ years predominately in healthcare.
• Deep technical understanding and working knowledge of buildings systems, including HVAC and Plumbing.
• Comprehensive understanding of building project components, project management and delivery systems; ability to continuously evaluate and refine processes to increase efficiency and client satisfaction.
• Project Management Professional certification and ASHRAE Healthcare Facility Design Professional (HFDP) certification a plus.
• Business development skills with ability to identify and develop prospects, nurture key relationships, crosssell services, negotiate, and engage business.
• Deep understanding of and ability to apply sustainable design principles within projects.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and polished presentation and public speaking skills.
• Outstanding consulting skills with ability to present a credible, engaging image in keeping with Stantec’s high service standards.
• Fundamental understanding of NFPA 99, ASHRAE 170, and the FGI Guidelines as they specifically apply to hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, and medical office buildings.
• Experience to identify and manage items of risk that may occur on projects.
