Build and maintain good relationships with clients in the business, colleagues across the Legal team and other internal specialist corporate functions.
Work closely with legal colleagues, internal specialist corporate functions and business representatives to achieve their goals and objectives by providing high quality, pragmatic legal support and advice in relation to a variety of commercial and construction matters for both existing operational assets and new projects for the business.
Gain a clear understanding of our strategic priorities as a business and assist in ensuring that we deliver on our core purpose, to power communities to thrive today and create a net zero tomorrow.
Undertake work in-house and, where necessary, engage external lawyers from our panel firms.

Broad experience of commercial and construction matters (preferably in the utilities and/or energy sector) including drafting and negotiating engineering and construction contracts and associated commercial agreements.
A proactive and pragmatic approach to giving legal advice and support in a clear and concise manner and within timescales. Demonstrates authority, credibility and maturity in their approach to their work.
Comfortable working independently and within project teams and leading matters of high value and high risk.
A high degree of confidence in your approach to work, legal skills and knowledge with a demonstrable resilient attitude to challenging situations. Comfortable in taking the lead in challenging situations and effectively resolving conflict.
Qualification as a solicitor in Scotland and/or England and Wales with a minimum of 5 years PQE, with knowledge of the legal and commercial issues that are pertinent to the construction or utilities sector.
