Construction Project Manager I - Wind

Description

The Project Manager will be responsible for overall project financial health, EPC contract negotiations, vendor procurement, and maintaining financial and equipment projections. They will allocate estimates, approve invoices, provide financials to accounting, and generate monthly owner billings. Additionally, they will manage subcontracts, supplier relationships, and oversee change orders and billing processes.

• Manage overall project financial health.
• Lead EPC contract negotiations and schedule development.
• Oversee vendor procurement and bid/award phases for major subs and suppliers.
• Develop and maintain project financial and equipment forecasts.
• Allocate estimates in financial system, assign cost codes, and approve invoices.
• Provide financial data and create monthly owner billings.
• Manage subcontracts, supplier relationships, and trade partner selection.
• Handle change orders, contract administration, and billing processes.
• Mentor and develop Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers; approve timecards and give feedback.

Requirements

Mortenson is seeking an experienced Project Manager I to lead projects with professionalism, flexibility, and resourcefulness in a dynamic environment. The role focuses on delivering quality, timeliness, and safety while mentoring the project team and building strong customer relationships through excellent service and communication. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field, or possess equivalent experience, with at least six years of relevant experience. Required skills include the ability to manage complex projects, strong attention to detail, a basic understanding of construction law, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and project software. A positive professional attitude, strong customer service, and a valid driver’s license are also essential.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum six years of relevant experience.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects.
• Strong attention to detail for organizing multiple tasks.
• Basic understanding of construction law and business practices.
• Preferred experience in commercial construction, renewable energy, EPC contracting, or emerging technologies.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, project software, and web applications.
• Positive professional attitude and strong customer service skills.
• Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies.
• Valid driver’s license.
