Tasks

-Attend project coordination meetings and liaise with project team members, clients, sub-consultants, contractors, and regulatory and environmental approval agencies. -Breaks down work into executable tasks. Acts accountable for work produced and ensures it is "right the first time.” -Encourage positive working relationships with external parties such as customers, suppliers, and contractors. May be involved in networking, negotiations, strategic alliancing, and cost savings efforts. -Actively engage with internal and external clients for business development and coordinate the work with other disciplines. -Actively encourage and support a safety-oriented culture. -Works with self-initiated interaction with senior level management and self-initiated technical guidance. Receives administrative direction based on organizational policies and objectives. -Facilitate meeting project requirements with discipline guidelines, programs, and management of project allocated resources. May participate in project execution strategy and planning. -Ensure team member adherence to company processes, generally accepted engineering and design practices, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications. -Oversee programs for technical competency and quality and monitor technical competency of teams. -Prepare or assist in preparing proposals, execution strategy, design work cost estimate, and project scheduling. -Maintain staff profiles and resumes, track existing capabilities and strategically address future customer capability requirements. -Ensure discipline technical work and team activities meet all health, safety, environmental, and security requirements. -Maintain pricing records reflecting efforts to complete project activities. -Drives safe and sustainable engineering outcomes throughout the asset lifecycle via the application of SEAL. -Assure the understanding of technical knowledge, legal requirements, and customer specifications whenever viable and lawful. -Monitor project progress through site visits and meetings with clients and contractors. -Act as a role-model and demonstrate a commitment to safety, personal well-being and a pro-active approach to continuously improving health, safety and environmental performance. Assumes hands-on management and implementation of all relevant company HSE requirements. -Oversee engineering software licensing costs, employee utilization, and skill development. -Assist in recruiting, coaching and performance management of the team. -Drive innovative solutions, technology advances and methods to effectively deal with working out of sequence. May work with Project Management teams to take corrective actions regarding any issues, staffing requirements, scope changes, progressing, or other events that could affect project completion and/or profitability. Review and authorize work done by direct reports. -Use local/global standards to support technical excellence. Appoint senior team members to conduct checking and perform technical peer reviews and manage execution. -Participate in budgeting activities and manage operations within the approved budget. -Control staffing levels, organizational structure, and monitors project discipline structures. -Participate in setting the strategic goals for the team and executes strategic initiatives. -Support global standardization and use of drawing and document templates.

What You Bring

-Demonstrated experience in marine inspections. -The ideal candidate will have a degree in civil/structural engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution. -Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining strong client relations. -This role is Vancouver based only. -Organize information from many sources and retain per the prescribed format and policies. Functional awareness of discipline tools. Conversant in the interrelationship of tools within the discipline, analytics and modeling, and cross discipline data centric methods. -Deals with new concepts and complexity comfortably. Examines problems carefully and thoroughly and understands their interdependencies. Obtain information and ideas from many sources and understand their importance and connectivity. -Skilled in estimating project costs and proposal writing. Adept at budgeting and cost control. -Strong background in ports and marine civil/structural work. Experienced understanding of regulations, codes, and -Achieves results set by self and others, meets timelines, pushes to achieve stretch goals, and demonstrates enthusiasm, persistence and tenacity. -Maintains strong relationships and works well with clients and contractors, establishes and maintains trust. -15+ years of relevant discipline experience and 5+ years in project/team leadership. -Builds appropriate, constructive, and effective business relationships throughout the organization; uses diplomacy and tact; accessible and approachable in relationships with others; communicates clearly, accurately, and consistently both verbally and in written matters. Employs the principles of active listening and encourages feedback from others. -Experience in project management, risk management, quality, procurement, or construction execution. -Effectively communicates and presents complex proposals and reports to senior level management and clients. Ability to persuade and influence others. Participative management style with a cooperative team approach. -Enjoys working in a high calibre team with high visibility to senior stakeholders. Able to effectively work and liaise with multiple teams and stakeholders, capable of prioritizing workloads and helping colleagues achieve team goals. -Ability to communicate effectively and to proactively respond to time-sensitive issues. -Registered or eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia as a professional engineer. -Travel as required for various field programs. -Experience leading a team, including recruitment, mentoring, coaching and performance management.
