Thermal Hydraulics Engineer

Description

You will work closely with our cross-functional team—including reactor physics, mechanical, and safety analysis engineers—to lead the thermal design and fluid system analysis for Hadron’s micro modular reactor. This role is central to modeling and verifying the reactor's heat transport systems, core cooling mechanisms, and balance-of-plant operations under both steady-state and transient conditions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
• Strong understanding of heat transfer (conduction, convection, radiation), fluid mechanics, and two-phase flow
• Proficiency in thermal-hydraulic system codes (e.g., RELAP, TRACE, SAM) or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+)
• Knowledge of reactor safety analysis and transient analysis (e.g., Loss of Flow, Loss of Coolant)
• Experience with verification and validation (V&V) of thermal-hydraulic models
• Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills
• Experience in component design and sizing for heat exchangers, pumps, and valves
• Familiarity with balance-of-plant (BOP) engineering and power conversion cycles
• 5+ years of experience in thermal-hydraulics analysis and fluid system design, preferably for nuclear or advanced energy systems
