Wind Turbine Traveling Technicians (Composite Repair) specialize in inspecting and correcting composite wind turbine generator components. They perform internal and external inspections and repairs of blades, nacelles, and other composite parts, using sanding, cleaning, cutting, and lay‑up of fiberglass, carbon fiber, and resin. The role requires 100 % travel.
Core responsibilities include evaluating, diagnosing, and documenting composite blade damage, performing structural and coating repairs, modifying fiberglass, carbon fiber, and resin materials, and collaborating with site leadership to meet contractual obligations. Technicians must complete company and client documentation using computer‑based reporting tools and perform Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures to ensure safety.
Candidates need at least two years of experience working with composite materials, familiarity with internal and external adhesive bonding, and knowledge of mixed‑ratio repair chemicals and leading‑edge/trailing‑edge crack repairs. They must be able to read electrical schematics, follow work instructions, and work in confined spaces such as inside wind turbine blades.
The position demands the ability and willingness to climb wind turbines up to 300 feet, maintain a weight between 120‑280 pounds for OSHA compliance, and lift equipment over 50 pounds. Work may occur indoors or outdoors in adverse weather, with exposure to pollen, dust, and grass.
