Description

The Purchasing Agent will be assigned to a specific construction market and will play a pivotal role from project inception to completion. This role focuses on vendor management, procurement processes, and seamless coordination among teams to keep projects on schedule and within budget.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, continuously enhancing knowledge of their offerings and capabilities.
• Support estimating personnel with vendor contacts, real‑time pricing, and lead times for specific items.
• Assist in decision‑making for awarding engineered buyout and commodity packages; compile quotes by material type and project phase, and request updated, discounted pricing using in‑house procurement software.
• Create and manage “Hold for Release” purchase orders and request cutsheets for submittal; deliver completed procurement plans to the project team for final approval.
• Act as liaison between operations and distribution, ensuring constant, quality communication, detailed tracking logs, complete packing slips, organized deliveries, proper palletization of material and clear proof of delivery.
• Source back‑ordered items, confirm change orders to buyout packages, manage return/replacement logistics, serving as the sole source for procurement.
• Oversee all rental requests across the enterprise, ensuring timely and accurate rental equipment availability; become expert in rental software, provide training to operations teams, and manage committed cost forecasting.
• Work closely with accounting team to regularly review open purchase orders in payment software; ensure committed costs and received amounts are accurate, resolve discrepancies, and close out completed purchase orders.

Requirements

Candidates should have at least five years of procurement or purchasing experience, preferably in construction, along with a solid understanding of electrical commodity materials and strong interpersonal skills. A high school diploma or GED is required, and reliable transportation is necessary for commuting and occasional site visits.

• Reliable transportation for commute and occasional jobsite visits.
