Ameresco seeks a Vice President of Construction to lead its design‑build and ESCO delivery organization for the Central and West U.S. region. The executive will set strategy, drive execution excellence, manage profitability, and oversee risk for multimillion‑dollar energy‑efficiency and infrastructure programs, including ESPCs, UESCs, HVAC modernization, solar PV/BESS, microgrids, and resiliency solutions. The role supervises regional directors, senior project managers, superintendents, and a matrixed team of engineering, safety, procurement, and finance professionals to ensure on‑time, on‑budget, high‑quality outcomes.
The position requires approximately 30–50 % travel and includes additional duties as assigned. The VP serves as the executive point of contact for customers and partners, delivering status updates, dashboards, and briefings.
- Define delivery strategy, annual operating plan, and manage portfolio P&L, margin, cash flow, and capital planning.
- Set and monitor performance targets for schedule, cost, quality, safety, and client satisfaction; drive continuous improvement via leading indicators and root‑cause analysis.
- Partner with Business Development and Engineering on pursuit strategy, constructability, delivery models, and competitive pricing.
- Oversee program execution from final design through commissioning and close‑out; manage risk, claims, and change control.
- Conduct monthly portfolio reviews, maintain risk registers, mitigation plans, and escalation protocols; ensure rigorous planning with Primavera P6 and earned‑value reporting.
- Build and mentor a high‑performing delivery organization; recruit, develop, and succession‑plan directors, senior PMs, and site leaders.
- Lead subcontractor qualification, selection, negotiation, and performance management; approve major change orders, claims strategies, and dispute resolutions.
- Champion a zero‑harm safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and site‑specific ES&H programs; uphold ethics, data security, and records‑management policies.
- Serve as executive liaison for customers and partners, delivering weekly status updates, monthly dashboards, and executive briefings.
- Travel approximately 30–50 % of the time to support regional project sites.

- Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s in Construction Management, Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred), 15+ years of construction and ESCO delivery experience, including 10+ years leading multi‑site design‑build/ESPC portfolios, and a valid driver’s license.
- Proven P&L ownership of portfolios exceeding $100 M annually with on‑time, on‑budget delivery; deep knowledge of design‑build and ESCO best practices, QA/QC, commissioning, and change/claims management.
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and fluency with RMS/Procore, cost control, and job‑cost accounting.
- Strong leadership, communication, and executive stakeholder management skills; preferred advanced degree (MS, MBA) and certifications (PMP, CCM, PE, DBIA).
- Experience delivering distributed energy, microgrids, or mission‑critical resiliency assets; expertise in EVMS, commissioning standards, and complex startup/turnover requirements.
Benefits
