The Role

Overview

Paid 10-12 week engineering internship in Roanoke, VA for civil, mechanical or chemical majors.

Tasks

-Assisting in the development and analyses of databases, reports, cost estimates and dashboards to enhance data-driven decision-making. -Collaborating with project teams and experienced engineers on planning, designing and executing enterprise resource projects to ensure seamless integration from design to construction. -Supporting documentation for decision-making processes and initiatives aimed at improving operational performance and safety in our services. -Participate in field visits to operational facilities to understand power system operations and assist in inspections and tests. -Engaging in design reviews, training sessions, knowledge-building projects and constructability assessments to maintain safety and operational standards.

What You Bring

-This position is not eligible for sponsorship, OPT, or CPT. -Must have completed at least your freshman year. -10-12 weeks -Minimum 3.0 GPA. -Must be at least 18 years old. -Effective time management skills. -Excellent verbal and written communication skills. -Embrace AEP’s safety culture by understanding safety guidelines and standards in both office and field environments. -Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in ELECTRICAL, CIVIL, MECHANICAL OR CHEMICAL Engineering in a program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). -Graduation date of December 2026 or later. -Willingness and ability to relocate for the summer to one of our engineering internship locations, if necessary.
