Head of Calibration

Description

The role combines strategic growth planning, sales and commercial leadership, continuous process improvement, and hands‑on people management to ensure high performance, safety, quality, and financial results.

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environment, and quality policies while holding P&L responsibility for the laboratory.
• Formulate and execute organic growth strategies, focusing on environmental chemistry testing services.
• Lead sales and commercial initiatives, set targets with the sales team, and support major customer proposals and contracts.
• Drive continuous process and performance improvement through KPI analysis and management tools.
• Build and mentor a high‑performing technical team, fostering a "can‑do" culture and high staff engagement.
• Oversee monthly lab P&L reporting, KPI tracking, and adherence to Element's Quality and SHE management systems.
• Provide technical expertise, plan daily operations, and ensure 100 % customer satisfaction with timely reports and advice.
• Manage budgeted targets, strive to exceed them each month, and monitor departmental revenue and finance KPIs.
• Conduct regular team meetings, define training plans, and handle hiring, performance appraisal, and employee retention.
• Maintain ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, conduct audits, and ensure calibration traceability and uncertainty analysis.

Requirements

• Hold a bachelor's degree in engineering, metrology, or a related field and 5–8 years of laboratory management experience.
• Demonstrate strong leadership, communication, analytical, and project‑management skills, with proficiency in calibration software and LIMS.
