Supervises and reviews the work of Plant Design and Piping engineering teams, determines staffing needs, assigns tasks, and manages schedules. Prepares or directs discipline job hour estimates and work plans per project scope, schedule, and budget, overseeing their implementation and performance.
Oversees, develops, and participates in daily Plant Design and Piping engineering activities across large-scale projects or several smaller assignments within a global business unit. Ensures coordinated Plant Design and Piping efforts in multiple execution centres and/or with joint venture partners, maintaining design consistency throughout.
Provides expert technical support to project teams, upholding safety and technical quality standards. Contributes to and owns engineering elements of project capital estimates, including discipline-specific quantities and budgets, and delivers technical input for estimating and procurement needs.
Communicates complex technical issues and proposes solutions to senior management, making independent decisions on discipline-specific project challenges. Acts as the discipline’s representative both within the project and with the client to resolve technical issues and coordinate activities as needed.
Offers technical support to both internal and external customers and actively influences project schedules. Applies extensive knowledge of engineering principles and practices to project engineering tasks.
Coordinates with client representatives to secure approval for Plant Design and Piping deliverables, including 3D model reviews. Ensures team members receive suitable on-the-job training for their professional development.
Maintains contact with other disciplines to coordinate work and ensure compliance with Bechtel and client specifications. Reviews and advises on Plant Design and Piping aspects of bid evaluations. Approves key calculations, design documents, supplier drawings, material specifications, and change orders.
Supervises the technical work of discipline engineers, designers, and drafters on a day-to-day basis. Fosters a collaborative and innovative work environment, championing openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, and satisfaction.

Extensive knowledge of applicable industry / regulatory codes and standards, and design and/or layout criteria.
Knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, materials and software and methods of application for Plant Design and Piping discipline.
High standard of oral and written communication, and use of MSOffice applications.
Extensive knowledge of precedents in the discipline and of principles and practices of related disciplines.
Extensive knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved.
Knowledge of typical Engineering Department Procedures, Design Guides, appropriate Standard Computer Applications and administrative practices.
Knowledge of application, use and coordination of 2-D and 3-D Design (CAD) tools on a project, ideally including microstation and Smart3D.
Extensive knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods.
Demonstrated skill in leadership with significant prior supervisory experience required.
Proven track record of leadership in a group supervisor role and strong familiarity with Bechtel’s own work processes and standards.
Pre-FEED, FEED and PMC experiences in related types projects.
A recognized degree in a job related engineering or scientific discipline from an accredited college or university, or a professional license in an appropriate engineering discipline from a recognized licensing board.
At least 15 years of experience in the Energy Transition, Petrochemical and / or Oil and Gas industry.
Experience in executing Middle Eastern projects, brownfield experience and familiarity with Aramco standards and specifications is highly desirable.
