This involves using utility maps, as‑built civil engineering drawings, GIS data, and electronic locating equipment, then marking locations with flags or paint and documenting the work with photos and reports.
Candidates must have at least two years of locating experience, be familiar with 811 regulations, and be able to read utility maps and civil drawings. They must maintain equipment and a tobacco‑free vehicle, possess a valid driver’s license, obtain a DOT physical, and pass a drug screen.
The role requires strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and attention‑to‑detail skills, the ability to work in all weather conditions, and willingness to travel up to 75% of the time. Flexibility for on‑call rotation, varying schedules, and overtime is essential, as is strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
