As a member of the Engagement team, you will assist the Project Manager and senior Engagement Specialists in developing and executing engagement scopes of work for utility infrastructure projects, such as electric transmission and substations. The role includes preparing engagement risk assessments, crafting key messages, and creating communication plans. You will also support public engagement activities, including site visits, public meetings, and preparing collateral for communications.
The position operates under minimal supervision and requires collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to meet project goals while managing high‑stress public interactions. The work is non‑routine, applying general policies to frequently changing situations.
A bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, public administration, or a related field is required, along with 0‑3 years of public engagement experience. Preferred experience includes 0‑1 year in the electric utility industry or large infrastructure projects.
No specific certifications or licenses are required. On‑the‑job training will be provided as needed for employee development.
Strong language skills are needed to read, interpret, and draft documents, reports, and business correspondence, as well as to present information to managers, clients, and the public. Basic algebra and geometry concepts are applied, and the ability to interpret written, oral, and diagrammatic instructions is essential.
Key abilities include strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication, self‑motivation, independent work, organizational planning, and the capacity to interact with individuals from diverse socio‑economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds. You must manage multiple tasks and provide leadership to team members.
The job involves frequent standing, walking, sitting, talking, and the regular use of hands for handling tools.
