In this role you will lead the development and strategy for new transmission components, capture requirements, and perform strength and life‑cycle analyses. You will defend design solutions to program leadership, investigate hardware issues with root‑cause analysis, support the supply chain by reviewing supplier documentation, and drive new capabilities for gas‑turbine power transmission systems. Additionally, you will mentor other specialists, define skill requirements, deliver training, and share best practices across the organisation.

- Review and defend design solutions to program leadership and stakeholders.
- Lead investigations of hardware issues, perform failure analysis and root‑cause corrective actions.
- Support supply chain by evaluating supplier documentation, non‑conforming hardware, and change proposals.
- Develop and execute new capabilities for gas‑turbine power transmission systems.
- Leverage internal and external specialist networks to advance subject knowledge and foster collaborations.
- Define skill requirements, deliver training, mentor specialists, and build team capability.
- Share best practices, document lessons learned, and provide concise justification for decisions.

Candidates must embody Rolls‑Royce's safety‑first values and possess a BSc in Mechanical Engineering with at least five years of design experience, an MSc with three years, or a PhD in the same field, and be a U.S. citizen. Preferred qualifications include experience with aerospace power‑transmission components, proficiency in tools such as Shaberth, ROMAX, Gleason, KIMoS, CFD analysis, GD&T, and familiarity with Siemens NX, Teamcenter, and Microsoft Excel.
- Basic requirement: BSc in Mechanical Engineering with ≥5 years design experience, or MSc with ≥3 years, or PhD; U.S. citizenship.
- Preferred: Experience with aerospace power‑transmission components (gearboxes, bearings, shafts, seals).
- Proficiency with design tools such as Shaberth, ROMAX, Gleason, KIMoS.
- CFD analysis experience for air and oil flow.
- Experience navigating gated design review processes.
- Expertise in GD&T, tolerance stack‑ups, and thermal effects on tolerances.
- Knowledge of gas‑turbine subsystems and components.
- Proficiency in Siemens NX, Teamcenter, and Microsoft Excel.
