Field Compression Engineer (Amarillo, TX)

One of North America’s largest energy infrastructure firms operating pipelines and terminals.
Provide technical expertise for gas compression equipment reliability and support.
Work with Operations in development of annual budgets in regard to compression and ancillary equipment needs.
Maintain a high regard for the safety of the general public, company and contract personnel, and company assets.
Aid in the specification of natural gas compression equipment based on provided operating conditions to optimize performance efficiencies, flexibility to changes in operating conditions, long-term reliability, ease of maintenance, while minimizing 20 year life cycle costs.
Organize work for timely completion and be available for overtime work if required.
Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and high level of performance.
Uses physical force to lift, push, pull and hold equipment/tools.
Occasionally climbs and works at various heights. May work in a standing, sitting, lying down, crouched or kneeling position.
Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, control, and instrumentation drawings.
Establish vendor relationships as applies to equipment in the area.

Specific knowledge in natural gas compression equipment and the mechanical design of gas compression equipment (including reciprocating engines, gas turbines, electric motor drives, reciprocating compressors, and centrifugal compressors).
Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds in awkward positions, and ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist (occasional)
Travel (up to 50% often overnight) to contractor or Kinder Morgan sites for mechanical support as well as to attend meetings and conferences. Weekend travel is occasionally required.
Gas turbine engines and centrifugal compressor
Be capable of managing multiple assignments with various deadlines and responsibility levels concurrently.
Low speed integral reciprocating engines and compressors
Experience and knowledge with compressor station design.
Possess a valid driver's license and meet company insurability requirements
Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions
Preferred two years practical experience (post degree) in the design and technical analysis of high pressure natural gas compressor systems.
Knowledgeable of company engineering specification.
Ability to use hand tools and equipment, repetitive hand use such as simple grasp and twisting motion included.
Ability to react to visual, aural and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work.
Familiarity and ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical blueprints and diagrams, including flow charts, cause/effect diagrams, and Piping and Instrument Drawings (P&IDs).
High speed separable reciprocating engines and compressor
Communicate in a highly professional manner. Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully. E-mail will be professional at all times.
A 4-year Engineering degree from an accredited school.
Proficient in basic PC operations, including word-processing and spreadsheets.
Proficiency in basic engineering skills.
Knowledgeable of company and governmental safety regulations.
