DIRECTOR OF ESTIMATING — COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION

The Director of Estimating will oversee a team of 6–8 estimators, ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of budgets, conceptual estimates, GMPs, and competitive bids. This is a key executive-level position responsible for managing preconstruction workflows, collaborating with ownership, and shaping the firm’s design-build and design-assist strategies.

• Oversee all preconstruction and estimating operations, from conceptual budgets through GMP development.
• Coordinate preconstruction schedules, workload planning, and project handoff to operations.
• Implement department standards, procedures, and estimating best practices.
• Lead bid strategy, subcontractor outreach, value engineering, and scope review processes.
• Manage design-build and design-assist estimating, working closely with architects, engineers, and internal leadership.
• Ensure accuracy, competitiveness, and consistency across all estimates and proposals.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 6–8 estimators across multiple project sectors.
• Present budgets and cost analyses to executive leadership and clients.

Requirements

• Ability to run multiple large estimates simultaneously while guiding junior and senior staff.
• 10+ years of estimating experience within commercial construction.
• Proven leadership experience overseeing a department or team of estimators.
• Expertise in conceptual estimating, subcontractor leveling, value engineering, and cost analysis.
• Strong background in preconstruction management and design-build methodology.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
