We’re looking for a Senior Procurement Engineer – Structural Steel to join our dynamic pre-construction team. In this key role, you'll manage structural steel procurement activities during both the tender and post-award phases. From analyzing complex tender documents to negotiating with top-tier suppliers, you’ll be instrumental in securing the best commercial and technical outcomes for our projects.
As a Senior Procurement Engineer – Structural Steel, you’ll be part of a fast-paced environment that values precision, market knowledge, and strategic thinking. You’ll work closely with internal teams and top structural steel suppliers to ensure the most competitive, compliant, and risk-mitigated procurement outcomes.
You’ll be joining a collaborative procurement and pre-construction team that interfaces closely with estimation, design, site, and QA/QC departments. Together, you’ll drive informed procurement decisions through careful evaluation, supplier engagement, and risk analysis—ensuring ALEC secures the best value on every package.
- Conduct detailed commercial analysis covering pricing, delivery, payment terms, and warranties
- Prepare comparative statements and formal vendor recommendation reports
- Identify, evaluate, and prequalify structural steel suppliers and fabricators
- Suggest alternative materials, grades, or strategies to optimize price or delivery
- Support the Lead Estimator in managing addenda and post-tender clarifications
- Negotiate final pricing, payment terms, and contract clauses
- Conduct supplier meetings to clarify scope and discuss key concerns
- Issue detailed RFQs aligned with project-specific requirements and goals
- Gather documentation required to draft LPOs/LOAs
- Facilitate bidder meetings to resolve qualifications and align expectations
- Deliver clear tender presentations to ensure bidder understanding of scope and expectations
- Review supplier quotes for compliance with tender requirements
- Analyze drawings, models, BOQs, and specifications for structural steel scope
- Issue RFQs with full package documents to prequalified structural steel suppliers/fabricators
- Coordinate with QA/QC, Design, Site, and Estimation teams to clarify scope or specifications
- Provide accurate steel material and fabrication cost estimates
- Build strong, lasting relationships with key steel suppliers and fabricators
- Identify and communicate commercial or technical risks in procurement scope
- Raise technical/commercial clarifications found in tender documentation
- Perform technical evaluations to confirm compliance with specs and drawings
- Maintain a clear audit trail of procurement decisions and approvals
- Recommend vendors based on capability, delivery, and cost competitiveness
- Coordinate with Estimation, Measurement, and Technical teams to validate quantities/specs

If you’re an experienced procurement professional with a sharp eye for detail and a deep understanding of structural steel, we want to hear from you.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Exposure to regional and international structural steel markets
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and vendors simultaneously
- 3–7 years of relevant experience in structural steel procurement (preferably in the GCC)
- Experience with pre- and post-contract procurement activities
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Strong knowledge of steel grades, fabrication standards, and global procurement practices
- Solid understanding of technical drawings, BOQs, and specifications
