PG&E is seeking a Quantitative Analyst to support cost analyses for electric and gas rate design proposals in regulatory proceedings. The analyst extracts and processes data from internal sources, builds models, and performs analytics on cost‑of‑service topics, while also assisting expert witnesses and responding to external requests. Success requires utility business knowledge, economic and financial understanding, and quantitative modeling skills such as programming, statistics, and mathematics.
- Complete quantitative modeling, analysis, and visualization of moderate scope with limited support.
- Present key insights to influence decision‑making.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Data Science, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics) with 2 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 1 year of experience.
- Desired: 3 years of relevant experience and utility industry background.
- Proficient in Python, including object‑oriented programming.
- Demonstrate basic prioritization skills to manage multiple assignments under demanding time constraints.
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
- Experience with statistical and mathematical modeling.
- Academic background in finance and/or economics.
- Strong oral and written communication abilities, capable of tailoring information to diverse audiences.
- Experience creating presentations and writing reports.
- Knowledge of project management, process improvement, or change management methodologies.
Benefits
The role works remotely with one day per week in the Oakland General Office, subject to business needs. Salary ranges for the Bay Area are $87,000 to $131,000, with eligibility for PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
