The Baggage Handling System Engineer will design and engineer complete BHS solutions, develop detailed plans and technical drawings, and manage budgeting, cost estimation, and procurement activities. The role also involves coordinating with project teams to integrate the BHS with other terminal systems, communicating updates to stakeholders, overseeing testing and commissioning, and providing post‑project maintenance and support.
- Design detailed plans, specifications, and technical drawings for baggage handling systems.
- Develop and manage project budgets, estimating costs for materials, equipment, and labor.
- Lead procurement, identify vendors, negotiate contracts, and oversee delivery and installation.
- Coordinate integration of BHS with terminal systems and communicate updates to stakeholders.
- Oversee testing, commissioning, and obtain regulatory approvals for BHS.
- Create maintenance plans, train staff, and provide ongoing support post‑completion.

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Automation Engineering and possess at least 12 years of experience with BHS design, installation, testing, and commissioning. Required expertise includes strong knowledge of international airport standards, proficiency with BHS simulation tools and AutoCAD, and a solid understanding of conveyor systems, automated sorting, and safety protocols; certifications in PLC/SCADA or automation are a plus.
The position is a permanent contract within the Consulting and Operations business line, under the Aviation Direct service line, classified in the Project Management job family and Contract Management profession, and is based in the Middle East and South Asia region.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Automation Engineering.
- Minimum 12 years of experience with BHS design, installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Strong knowledge of international airport standards (IATA, ICAO, TSA, EN 528, NFPA 130).
- Proficiency in BHS simulation tools, AutoCAD, and related software.
- Certification in PLC/SCADA or automation/control systems is advantageous.
