The Job Holder is required to understand and promptly act upon oral operational instructions, respond effectively in pressure situations, make quick decisions in the event of breakdown or failure to safeguard the plant, manage stress, assess and change operational parameters with minimal supervision, coordinate and follow up on maintenance activities ensuring high levels of safety and compliance with procedures.
Leading and managing people
Ensures a safe working environment for himself and the Mechanical Technicians whilst working on any equipment;
Ensure that the plant meets availability, reliability, efficiency, generation and cost targets, safely and within the environmental, legal and contractual requirements.
Generates reports of equipment failures;
Respects the O&M agreement with the Owner and the Contractual Services Agreement with Suez Services Saudi.
Ensures adequate inventories of spares and consumables are maintained;
The Job Holder is supposed to act and find solutions to (potential) problems within the Department; however he is responsible for keeping the Head of Mechanical informed.
Works with Plant Operations Personnel for resolving problems encountered with mechanical equipment.
Ensures maintenance tasks are completed by the Technicians as per Work Orders generated in SAP;
Prepares and delivers Technical Training, including modules on Alignment Techniques, valves, pump repairs, compressors, dryers, HRSG component inspections and BOP plant equipment.
Along with the Maintenance Manager, ensures mechanical equipment maintenance planning is correctly scheduled so that all equipment is maintained as per OEM recommended intervals;
Builds and sustains a committed, cohesive and dynamic Team;
Delivers technical advice to colleagues and Contractors to ensure safety and the proper execution of Plant Maintenance Practices;
Coaches Mechanical Technicians on instrumentation equipment, Safe Work Procedures and Operational Techniques to ensure proper execution of Plant Routines;
Assists to d efine, manage and monitor the mechanical maintenance budget in line with the overall company budget.
Points out any unsafe conditions to Management.
Assists in development of the short and long term mechanical maintenance strategy for the plant and the development of a capable engineering, planning and mechanical maintenance team to support that strategy.
Performs trouble shooting activities as necessary to determine failure conditions and rectifies defects found;
Assists the Maintenance Manager in planning and budget preparation processes.
Recommends the appropriate training for the Mechanical Technicians.
Assists to coordinate mechanical maintenance activities with finance and accounting, administration, HSE and operations departments
Ensures that all tools necessary for working on equipment safely are available and are used during performance of all jobs in the Plant;
Applies engineering knowledge and skills to review and update task lists for equipment. Implements initiatives to address inconsistencies in SAP scheduling, practices and documentation.
Monitors Mechanical Technicians and Contractors to ensure guidelines as per Safe Work Practices and HSE Standards are followed;
Discusses planned and unplanned jobs undertaken with the Maintenance Manager;
The Job Holder works closely with the Mechanical Technicians to ensure the Plant Routines are actioned efficiently and to high quality standards;
Day to day plant efficient management of mechanical maintenance activities, according to good utility practice, company rules and procedures, legal, contractual and other requirements
Ensures Third Party Certification of all tools is done on an annual basis or as required;
Acts as a Mentor for the Mechanical Team;
Ensures the reports on maintenance is done and documented in SAP;
Generates reports as necessary once maintenance is completed;
Ensures necessary tooling is available to all Technicians;
Assists to manage all mechanical maintenance activities associated with defect and planned maintenance programmes, through a team of site based engineers, technicians and at times by external contract agencies.
