Senior client accountant

Description

• Ensure data accuracy and integrity across systems
• Act as the principal contact for clients, surveyors, and internal stakeholders
• Support year-end audits and assist with ad-hoc projects or financial analysis
• Manage service charge budgets and year-end reconciliations in line with RICS and The Property Institute standards
• Oversee all aspects of client and property accounting for a designated portfolio
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing proactive financial advice
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
• Maintain compliance with RICS and industry best practices
• Ensure adherence to HMRC requirements, including VAT returns and tax reporting
• Deliver clear, accurate reports within agreed deadlines
• Utilise TRAMPS for property management and accounting processes

Requirements

• System Expertise
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA) or equivalent experience
• Commercial awareness and ability to provide proactive financial advice
• Advanced financial reporting and analytical skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting tools
• Strong knowledge of HMRC regulations, VAT returns, and tax compliance
• Experience managing complex portfolios and liaising with multiple stakeholders
• Proven track record in service charge accounting and year-end reconciliations
• Significant experience in real estate client accounting
• Professional qualification (ACCA, ACA, or equivalent)
• Significant experience in client accounting within the real estate/property management sector
• High integrity and commitment to compliance and best practice
• Adaptable and solutions-focused approach
• Close familiarity with RICS and The Property Institute guidance, rules and standards
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client-facing interactions
• Hands-on experience with property management systems (TRAMPS essential; Yardi/MRI desirable)
• Experience managing large, complex portfolios
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines effectively
• Familiarity with RICS, The Property Institute, and HMRC reporting requirements
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of TRAMPS software
