Project Manager – Engineering

Description

• Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation strategies for multiple concurrent initiatives
• Act as liaison between EPC contractors and internal technical teams during facility construction and commissioning phases
• Coordinate with internal Safety, Quality Assurance, and Licensing teams to ensure all pilot program activities meet compliance requirements
• Develop and maintain comprehensive risk registers for all managed projects
• Manage relationships and information transfer with key suppliers and vendors, ensuring timely delivery of critical components and materials while maintaining quality standards and cost targets
• Critical Thinking: Develop innovative solutions, optimize project performance, and make data‑driven decisions that enhance project outcomes.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, procurement, safety, quality assurance, licensing and regulatory compliance
• Coordinate with internal engineering teams, R&D, Procurement, and executive leadership to ensure alignment of pilot program objectives with organizational strategic goals
• Ensure adherence to nuclear quality assurance programs and safety protocols
• Implement and maintain project management methodologies appropriate for nuclear technology development environments
• Assist in the creation of the organization architecture and structures based in Charlotte and necessary for the successful design development of the Company IMSR plant.
• Present project updates, technical findings, and resource requirements to internal governance committees and senior management
• Lead simultaneous project streams across the Reactor Pilot Program and Fuel Line Pilot Facility, ensuring alignment with overall IMSR development objectives
• Planning and Organizing: Comprehensive scheduling and resource allocation to meet project milestones and budget constraints.
• Track and report project progress, risks, and mitigation strategies to senior management and stakeholders
• Facilitate engagement with EPC contractors, coordinating design reviews, construction milestones, and commissioning activities across multiple project phases
• Leadership: Inspire and guide team members toward shared goals, fostering a collaborative and high‑performance culture and ensuring the successful execution of project objectives.
• Lead root cause analyses and corrective action implementation when issues arise
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with procurement and supply chain teams to anticipate and resolve material availability challenges

Requirements

• Exceptional ability to identify root causes and devise effective resolution strategies for complex project challenges.
• Familiarity with nuclear regulatory frameworks (DOE, NRC, CNSC, or international equivalents)
• Problem Solving: Rapidly diagnose issues, develop actionable solutions, and implement corrective actions to keep projects on track.
• High computer proficiency and quick adaptability to new software tools, enabling efficient workflow integration.
• Demonstrated flexibility to adapt plans and priorities in response to changing project deadlines and business needs.
• Team Player: Seamlessly collaborate with cross‑functional teams, building strong relationships and driving collective success.
• At least 3 years of experience in the nuclear industry or comparable highly regulated sector
• Has demonstrated exceptional results in past engineering projects.
• Capable of flexibility and adaptability at a time of organizational change.
• Multitasking: Efficiently manage concurrent tasks across multiple projects without compromising quality or deadlines.
• Offer US market experience and perspectives bringing innovative approaches to problem solving and business plan execution.
• Flexible and Adaptable to Change: Thrive in dynamic environments, quickly adjusting plans to accommodate evolving project requirements.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, and Visio for project scheduling, documentation, data analysis, and visual communication.
• Proven track record managing projects with budgets exceeding $5M
• Exceptional multitasking ability to manage competing project goals and tight deadlines without compromising quality.
• Has a deep understanding of the requirements for advanced reactor development.
• Minimum 7-10 years of project management experience in complex technical environments
• Demonstrated experience presenting project status and recommendations to executive leadership teams, driving informed decision‑making.
• Knowledge or experience in nuclear or large scale power projects, understanding safety regulations and industry best practices.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling clear and concise stakeholder engagement.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related technical field (Master's degree Preferred)
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively liaise and build collaborative relationships across all levels of the organization.

• Strong understanding of nuclear reactor systems and fuel cycle processes
• Project Management: Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional project teams, oversee project life cycles, and deliver projects on time and within budget.
