Critical Facilities (Data Center) Technician

Description

The Data Center Operations Engineer works the first shift (06:00‑14:00 CT) and is responsible for delivering best‑practice systems operations and problem resolution across all data‑center electrical and mechanical infrastructure, including UPS, MV electrical systems, generators, and cooling equipment.

The role focuses on maintaining 100% uptime of building systems such as fire/life safety, HVAC, chillers, CRAC, plumbing, controls, and emergency power equipment while ensuring safety compliance and proper documentation of system readings.

• Maintain, monitor, and perform preventive maintenance on all building systems to ensure 100% uptime.
• Analyze system performance, diagnose issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Manage work orders, CMMS, vendor coordination, and customer‑facing tickets.
• Follow emergency escalation procedures and safety policies.
• Respond to site emergencies and perform additional duties as required.

Requirements

Physical demands include frequent walking, climbing stairs and ladders up to 30 ft, lifting at least 50 lb, and working outdoors in all seasons; the position is onsite in Richardson, TX and may require holiday and emergency work.

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of relevant experience, preferably in a data center or critical facility.
• Hands‑on experience with UPS systems, emergency generators, and switchgear (preferred).
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Experience with Corrigo, MCIM/Salesforce, Zendesk, or ServiceNow (preferred).
• EPA 608, NFPA 70E, CPR/AED/First Aid certifications (preferred).
• OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 training (preferred).
• Data center certifications such as DCCA or CMCO (preferred).
• Frequent walking, climbing stairs, and using ladders up to 30 ft.
• Lift a minimum of 50 lb and work overhead or in confined spaces.
• Ability to work outdoors in all seasons, on varied schedules, holidays, and emergencies.
