

JLL provides professional services in real estate and investment management worldwide.
The primary responsibility of the Building Engineer is to complete all tasks assigned by the Lead Engineer with minimal supervision and to report any condition affecting building services, tenant comfort, or safety. Core areas include tenant services, preventive maintenance, equipment monitoring, and general maintenance.
Typical daily activities involve responding to tenant service requests such as temperature complaints, lighting replacement, and minor repairs. The role also includes operating and monitoring mechanical equipment such as chillers, pumps, cooling towers, EMS computers, and fire alarm systems. Additionally, the engineer performs scheduled preventive maintenance on building equipment and systems.
The engineer troubleshoots, repairs, and adjusts HVAC equipment and control systems to ensure tenant comfort. They record equipment readings and operational statuses in logbooks. General maintenance tasks include painting, cleaning mechanical rooms, and maintaining service‑area lighting.
Assistance is provided to the Lead Engineer and outside contractors during equipment startups, major overhauls, and annual inspections.
Required qualifications include technical expertise in at least one craft area (Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, or Central Utility Plant Operations), multi‑skill capabilities across building systems, knowledge of safety protocols for hazardous materials, experience with preventative maintenance programs, ability to troubleshoot complex equipment, and a strong understanding of building codes and standards.
Preferred qualifications are additional certifications in multiple crafts, experience with inventory control and purchasing, vendor management, facility management software, and background in commercial or industrial facility operations.
The position is onsite in Miami, FL, working the first shift (8 am–4:30 pm) and does not provide visa sponsorship; candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
