The Field Engineering role supports line and grade layout projects by planning, organizing, and directing field crews to accurately determine locations, elevations, lines, areas, and contours needed for construction. The incumbent collaborates closely with the Project Manager, AGS, Superintendent, laborers, and other skilled trades on‑site to ensure successful project completion and close‑out. - Research prior survey data, maps, and construction records to obtain layout information.
- Determine methods for establishing or reestablishing survey control.
- Operate total station, data collector, and level lasers.
- Provide control lines and layout for edge forms, columns, walls, footings, piers, anchor bolts, embeds, scaffolding, and shoring.
- Install elevation benchmarks on decks, edge forms, columns, walls, sidewalks, and site work.
- Verify plumbness of columns and walls before and after concrete placement.
- Confirm deck elevation prior to concrete placement.
- Maintain accurate notes, sketches, and as‑built records of embeds, anchor bolts, and elevated slabs.
- Provide personal transportation when assigned.
- Coordinate survey findings with engineering, architectural staff, clients, and others.
- Review and utilize architectural, structural, civil, and shop drawings.
- Carry and keep required tools on‑site at all times.
- Assist other crews when possible.
- Mentor and train the eye man.
- Preserve confidentiality of company proprietary information.
- Ensure personal safety and that of co‑workers.
- Stop work immediately if unsafe conditions are observed.
- Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Report any violations of laws, regulations, or policies promptly.
- Perform additional duties assigned by supervision, such as training or procedure reviews.
- Prioritize and adjust work to accommodate changes.
- Travel between multiple job sites during the workday as needed.

Candidates must have at least three years of relevant experience, preferably in concrete construction, and possess strong problem‑solving, technical, and mathematical abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, PlanGrid, and excellent customer service and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively and learn technical aspects of the business quickly.
The position may be performed with or without reasonable accommodation and requires consistent use of personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, respirators, earplugs, and steel‑toe shoes. The incumbent must remain calm during emergencies, follow safety protocols, and be prepared to evacuate the work area promptly when required.
