System Studies Engineer - HVDC Control & Protection

Provides sustainable energy solutions for a decarbonized future, spanning the entire energy value chain.
Design HVDC control & protection solutions, run dynamic studies, support projects.
Dynamic performance studies within tender and project execution of HVDC projects
Supporting the project management in technical discussions, participating in customer meetings, and coordinating external partners
Analysing sub-synchronous torsional/control interactions and the harmonic converter impedance, as well as potential interactions between the HVDC converter and other controlled devices in the power system
Optimizing the dynamic behaviour of the HVDC converter (e.g., black-start and network restoration, grid forming controls, multi-terminal systems) according to customer and national grid code requirements
Continuous improvement and standardization of simulation models, study procedures and methods, processes in project execution as well as documentation of results
Developing and validating simulation models for diverse EMT simulation tools (e.g., PSCAD/EMTDC, Matlab/Simulink, EMTP-RV)

Expertise in control engineering and modelling of HVDC systems in the time domain and frequency domain
Professional user of typical power system simulation programs (e.g., PSCAD/EMTDC, Matlab/Simulink, EMTP-RV)
Good knowledge in high voltage applications, power transmission systems, power electronics and HVDC technology
Outstanding team skills, initiative, and customer orientation
Customer trainings for simulation models and presentation of study results to customer
University degree in electrical power engineering or control engineering in combination with PhD degree and experience in power engineering industry
Fluent English mandatory (spoken and written), German preferable
