Sets-up traffic control to conform to Highway Department requirements.
Completes work tickets showing jobs completed, hours worked, and follow-up necessary.
Uses high-pressure sprayers to clean manholes, wet wells, etc.
May work as part of the closed-circuit televising (CCTV) crew.
Constantly positions self to move, traverse in the field as necessary to perform required work.
Routinely positions self to use up to 50 lbs of force. Daily move and transport equipment and/or materials at job sites weighing up to 50 lbs. Objects greater than 50 lbs require a two-person operation.
May be required to work during emergency conditions.
Routinely ascend/descend a ladder to climb in and out of excavations.
Vacuums debris from exit points, i.e., manholes, excavations, wet wells, etc.
Routinely and safely operate computer to include desktop and tough notebook laptops in the field.
Utilizes GIS and grid maps to locate and document work to be done.
May be required to cross-train in the operation of backhoes, trackhoes, bobcats and similar heavy equipment.
Utilizes cleaning nozzles and equipment for mainline cleaning, removal of debris and for relief of blockages.
Operates motor vehicles.
Routinely ascend/descend into manhole to accesses approximately two feet in diameter and depths of up to twenty feet.
May be required to supervise crews on a daily basis.

Ability to obtain a “D” wastewater collection systems operator’s license in the state of South Carolina within two years of hire.
Ability to obtain a “C” wastewater collection systems operator’s license in the state of South Carolina within two years of hire.
Performs routine preventative and corrective maintenance on vehicles and equipment requiring a basic knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines, mechanical systems and hydraulics.
Prior work record indicating dependability and conscientiousness.
May work in the capacity of a Collection System Operator II.
Must be able to make visual observations in daylight and night.
Subject to vibrations. Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities of whole body.
Regular attendance is required.
Job performance must conform to all CWS policies and procedures.
Ability to operate and maintain motor vehicles.
High school diploma or GED required.
Considerable movement and traversing involved at work sites on unpaved streets, uneven ground and cluttered work areas.
Two (2) years’ experience in wastewater collection, utility work, pipefitting, plumbing, construction, manufacturing, and/or general maintenance required.
General knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic systems preferred, ability to diagnose and replace or repair worn or defective parts.
Valid South Carolina Driver’s License required.
Constantly works in internal / external environmental conditions.
Subject to noise levels requiring the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. Hearing Protection Required.
Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine distinctions in sound, such as when making adjustments on equipment.
Standard Operating Instruction (SOI) per department requirements.
Subject to 24-hour on-call.
OSHA and Departmental safety training as required.
Two (2) years’ experience in wastewater collection, utility work, pipefitting, plumbing, construction, manufacturing, and/or general maintenance preferred.
Valid South Carolina Commercial Driver’s License Class A required. Tanker endorsements must be obtained within the first six months of employment.
Specific knowledge of CWS Environmental Management System policy and procedures.
Must be able to wear Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) as defined in the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) to perform the required essential functions.
