Your purpose is to win, deliver and manage our portfolio of groundwater modelling projects, develop trusted client relationships and champion high performance standards. You will undertake and delegate complex problem solving—including data gathering, processing, calculations, modelling, conceptualisation, reporting, proposal writing and costing. You will also mentor junior staff, provide training on modelling, and collaborate with other hydrogeological and water resources modelling applications.
Do you have the ambition, enthusiasm and technical capability to work with us as an associate groundwater modeller within the water resources sector? We are looking for someone to join our successful Water Management Consultancy groundwater resources team in supervising and delivering a growing portfolio of projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced candidate looking to progress their career in a vitally important industry with an internationally renowned company.
The role requires a degree in science, engineering or mathematics, a postgraduate qualification in hydrogeology (or related) and ideally chartered status. Comprehensive knowledge and demonstrable experience of all aspects of groundwater modelling for water resources, including building, developing and updating regional‑scale conceptual and numerical models, is essential. Experience with UK regional groundwater models, water resources hydrogeology, regulatory frameworks, project leadership and strong analytical, report‑writing and presentation skills are also required.
Technical expertise should include MODFLOW (ideally MODFLOW6) and other groundwater flow models, recharge models such as 4R or SWAc, and preferably coding skills in Python, R, Fortran, VBA and GIS. An ongoing interest in developing skills and staying abreast of emerging technologies is expected.
The role may require security clearance, with the vetting process delivered by UK Security Vetting and a residency requirement of five years in the UK. We are an equal‑opportunity employer, offering family‑friendly, inclusive policies, flexible working arrangements and support for diverse backgrounds.
AtkinsRéalis is ranked among LinkedIn’s Top 25 Companies where UK professionals want to work, and has been named a Times Top 50 employer for women. We are committed to engineering better for people and the planet through our Net‑Zero programme, social‑value initiatives, inclusive employee networks and community outreach programmes.
