The Role

Overview

Design utility distribution systems and support electrical projects as an Engineer‑In‑Training.

Tasks

-Collaborate with members of the engineering team as well as project managers from other disciplines -Prepare technical input for reports, specifications, proposals, project schedules, and cost estimates -Prepare plans, drawings and calculations based on specifications provided -Ensure design work conforms to all applicable national codes and client standards -Perform site visits to validate scope requirements and determine existing assets condition, and prepare site survey reports -Assist intermediate and senior staff -Develop detailed design deliverables for utility distribution systems including construction drawings for overhead and underground primary and secondary installations with 2D software (AutoCAD) -Utilize client based Geographic Information Systems and other records for data collection during the design process; Produce bill of material and enter material acquisition requests -Coordinate with third party utility companies, all levels of government agencies, other companies, and institutions -Project schedule management and tracking with regular reporting to the CIMA+ project manager for project status

What You Bring

-Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure -Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English is required -Excellent problem solving and multitasking skills -Valid BC Class 5 driving license, or equivalent to obtain the BC license is required -Experience using AutoCAD software is an asset -Excellent skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) -University Degree in Electrical Engineering or Structural Engineering -Attention to detail, eager to learn, and self-motivated -Capability to work independently and in a team -Registered (or eligible to register as) member of a EGBC
