OSP Engineer

Description

• Design and plan OSP facilities for copper and fiber (aerial, buried, conduit) and prepare engineering drawings and calculations.
• Conduct field measurements for poles, conduits, and buried assets to support network design.
• Prepare and submit permit packages to municipal, county, state, DNR, railroad, and pipeline agencies ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with municipal officials and other utilities to manage road projects, relocations, and minimize conflicts.
• Update CAD (FROGS), Varasset, and SiteTracker tools and support service orders, expansions, and dark‑fiber projects.
• Manage SSP contractors, oversee make‑ready work, and ensure budget‑conscious project completion.
• Perform site surveys, investigate PUC complaints, and create capital projects for cell towers and plant repairs.
• Resolve plant damage requests, cable count changes, and other network service needs.
• Maintain engineering records, draft correspondence and reports, and process departmental documentation.

Requirements

The position requires 3–5+ years of hands‑on experience in copper and fiber optic network engineering, with at least five years in OSP‑related work, permitting, and fiber record management. Candidates must demonstrate strong project‑management and organizational skills, proficiency with Ziply tools (FROGS, Varasset, SiteTracker), and the ability to communicate effectively with municipal officials, utilities, contractors, and cross‑functional teams. Preference is given to candidates located in the Pacific Standard Time zone, though qualified individuals in the Mountain Standard Time zone will also be considered.

• Apply 3‑5+ years of copper/fiber network engineering experience, with at least 5 years in OSP permitting and record management.
• Utilize Ziply engineering tools (FROGS, Varasset, SiteTracker) and demonstrate strong project management and communication skills.
• Travel locally for fieldwork and meetings; mileage reimbursed; preference for PST (MST considered).
