Overview

Tasks

-Oversee the safe delivery of construction and maintenance projects in compliance with Client policies, procedures, systems, resources, and deliverables to ensure the safety and protection of the public, employees and contractors. -Engage in integrated planning process providing constructability advice / guidance, involve in Integrated Route Planning process and utilize necessary tools provided by Client as required. -Keep track of work on site and record changes for completion of as-built drawings and verify quantities of item for review of contractor’s invoices. -Ensure that Contractor follows quality control process for conformance in accordance with contract documents and coordinate quality assurance testing as required. -Provide oversight of Contractor’s construction activities, schedule, logistics, site access, site conditions, utilities, health and safety, environment, project interfaces, operations and maintenance, design and document assurance, site assurance and testing, commissioning and asset handover as required. -Participate in communications with relevant teams and stakeholders to understand requirements for work plans to ensure construction and maintenance projects are developed, implemented, and integrated consistently, efficiently, safely, and in a coordinated manner. -Provide site presence throughout construction by regular daytime, nighttime, and weekend site visits if required for planned track closures. -Coordinate and carry out daily inspections during construction of the work to verify compliance in accordance with contract documents and assist the Engineer of Record for construction compliance in accordance with the Design. -Prepare weekly and monthly, and daily, reports including site photos summarizing progress and identifying issues to be forwarded to the client.

What You Bring

-Knowledge of railway bridge design standards, railway regulations and AREMA Guidelines is an asset. -Must be able to get security clearance to be able to work on client sites. -Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong working relationships with the Contractor. -Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Construction Engineering + 4 years of relevant experience in working in Heavy Rail (Commuter and Freight Railway) environment with inspection of heavy civil works, railway bridges, supervising construction sites, field engineering, site work inspections in the railway right of way for Class 1 railway. -Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) licensed to practice in the Province of Ontario. -Be resident at the place of work (on site) and work independently under the general direction of the Contract Administrator. -Ideally 8+ years of relevant experience in working in Heavy Rail (Commuter and Freight Railway) environment with inspection of heavy civil works, railway bridges, supervising construction sites, field engineering, site work inspections in the railway right of way for Class 1 railway. -Strong oral and written skills. -Must have experience working on the construction and rehabilitation of railway bridges. -Demonstrated on-site construction supervision experience in construction of railway related infrastructure, transit, commercial and municipal infrastructure including but not limited to transit stations, track grading, parking structures, parking, track, railway signals, bridges, grade separations, tracks, drainage, underground tunnels and rehabilitation of transit facility building projects. -Valid Driver’s License. -Must be able to work night shifts. -Must be able to get client training certifications to be able to work on Railway sites.
