The General Shop Help position in the Coatings Division at the Lindon, Utah plant supports the galvanizing process by preparing products and materials, including hanging angles on spreader bars, staging tubular products, and getting small parts ready for galvanizing.
- Inspect and ensure safe use of production fixtures, chains, and hooks.
- Hand‑wire small to medium‑sized parts to racks for pickling or galvanizing.
- Pull and place chains and ropes around steel bundles for racking.
- Move lightweight steel pieces by hand throughout the plant and yard.
- Perform paddling functions using air guns to remove zinc needles.
- Use air or electric tools to prepare or clean steel for pickling or galvanizing.
- Assist with general plant cleanup and housekeeping.
- Work safely, protecting self and others from accidents and injuries.
- Stand for long periods in an open‑air environment while wearing PPE.
- Maintain high safety awareness at all times.

The role requires working in a physically demanding environment with exposure to smoke, acid fumes, dust, high summer heat and cold, damp winter conditions, and wind‑blown ash, while consistently using personal protective equipment and following strict safety protocols.
- Read and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Accurately read a tape measure.
- Communicate problems or needs to supervisors.
- Lift up to 50 lb from ground to shoulder height or higher.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum six months of galvanizing experience.
- Six months experience with hand tools and gauges (impact wrenches, air grinders, drills, taps, torches, mill gauges).
- Six months operating a bridge crane.
- Positive interaction and communication with coworkers.
- Attention to detail and adherence to work instructions.
- Certification for heavy equipment operation (forklift).
