The Project Manager oversees the financial health of projects, manages budgets, invoices, and billing processes, and selects trade partners and suppliers. They also lead Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers, assign work, support career development, and act as the primary contact for owners and on‑site representatives, handling change orders and maintaining schedule, quality, risk, safety, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage overall financial health of projects, including subcontracts and suppliers.
- Develop and maintain project financial projections and allocate estimates in the financial system.
- Determine cost codes, approve invoices, and provide financials and billings to Accounting for timely payment.
- Create monthly owner billings and handle contract management, including contract buyouts.
- Oversee budget and select trade partners and suppliers.
- Lead and manage Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers, assign jobs, and support career development.
- Approve timecards for on‑site team members and give ongoing performance feedback.
- Serve as primary contact with the owner and on‑site representative, review owner agreements, and resolve site concerns.
- Execute and manage change orders, submitting them for approval as needed.
- Maintain schedule and budget through project completion, overseeing quality, risk, safety, compliance, and relationship building.

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in construction, civil, architectural engineering, construction management, or possess equivalent experience, along with a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel up to 100%. Strong organizational detail, a basic understanding of construction law, intermediate Microsoft Office and project software skills, and effective, inclusive communication are required.
Project Manager 1 requires a minimum of six years of construction management experience and offers a salary range of $110,700–$166,100. Project Manager 2 requires seven years of experience with large projects ($20M+) and pays $128,300–$192,500, with higher ranges for certain cities; both positions are eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
