Graduate Bridge Structures Engineer - Newcastle upon Tyne (Summer 2026)

Description

• Use industry‑leading software for structural design, bridge assessment, finite element analysis, inspections, renewal feasibility studies, on‑site supervision and scheme management.
• Contribute to bridge designs from inception through completion and carry out assessments of existing structures via inspections and analysis.
• Manage resources and tasks within bridge schemes while collaborating with other AECOM disciplines.

Requirements

The Bridges business line is expanding after recent high‑profile wins, and it is seeking ambitious civil and structural engineering graduates with strong computational, mathematical and design skills. Graduates will work on a range of projects—from concept design to implementation—for local, national and international clients, gaining exposure to both UK and overseas bridge programmes.

• Hold a BEng (2:1) in Civil or Structural Engineering; MEng or MSc is advantageous; demonstrate strong technical understanding and interest in bridge engineering.
• Willingness to pursue chartership with ICE or IStructE; proficient in Microsoft Office and effective at verbal and written communication with clients and stakeholders.
• Show enthusiasm, ambition, ability to prioritize work, and capability to operate both independently and as part of a team.
